'Possibilities' is a small UK charity based in Suffolk, England, that is making a tiny contribution to the huge humanitarian catastrophe that has left millions of children stranded in poverty in Uganda

 

Uganda has a population of 28 million. It’s average age is just 15. With over 2 million people suffering from the disease of Aids, we want to give Uganda's children the start that we believe all children deserve.

 
We have been amazed and humbled by how much is achievable with so little money. The joy on the face of a child who is able to go to school for the first time, or the relief and total wonderment of a grandmother when a rainwater tank is delivered are both life changing to witness. Water doesn't any longer need to be collected from the stream at the bottom of the hill 1/2 a mile away, and she doesn’t any longer have to make a choice between paying for water and paying for school.

Every trip we make is characterised by spending time with the children. They are parent-less and therefore have little interaction with adults. Often much of what they need is someone prepared to play with them and someone who can give them a little time and some attention.
 
 
For 2008 we are planning to have a dormitory block built in an orphanage in Kinawataka, Kampala, where 12 girls share 4 beds in a room 7ft x 7ft, and several boys sleep in the old chicken shed where there are no windows and no light. We want to give these children a degree of privacy and a bed of their own.

This will cost £10,000 GBP.

For such a small sum we will be able to make a huge difference and transform many young lives.
